2017 Year of the Red Rooster

January 28th 2017 – February 16, 2018

PREPARING FOR THE NEW YEAR:

Thursday January 12th marks the Full Moon that ends the Year of the Fire Monkey. You then have 2 weeks until the New Year in which to get your life and home in order. Get organized, make a plan, and reserve a weekend to prepare for the new energies coming in:

  • Go through closets, replacing things that are worn out and dated
  • Refold the linen closet, neaten drawers and closets
  • Have a clothes swap party with your friends
  • Make improvements to your home both inside and out
  • De-clutter as if you were moving, unload all that stuff and send it off to thrift stores
  • Go through your kitchen cupboards too and prepare to get really healthy in 2017 by getting rid of all the processed foods and donate it to a food bank. Make an effort to eat more fresh organic locally sourced fruits and veggies, whole grains, seeds and nuts with minimal dairy and meat.
  • Trim trees, remove dead foliage, beautify the yard, and make plans for your spring garden – nothing like growing your own food!
  • Get your financial affairs in order – pay off debts and make sure clients have paid invoices
  • Clean out your car and make sure it is up on all its servicing, registration, etc.
  • Get a haircut and attend to your own health by making those annual appointments now

On the Full Moon of Thursday January 12th take your Feng Shui cures and crystals outside for a cleansing moonlight bath(doesn’t matter if it’s snowing, raining, or cloudy, the Full Moon’s power shines through regardless of the weather). This can be done the day before or after the Full Moon too. The next day, douse them with sea salt and bathe in clean water to recharge them. Throughout the cleaning process say a prayer, mantra or blessing to clear these sacred items so they are fully charged for the New Year.

*Ba-Gua Mirrors and Coins must be replaced every year as they hold too much chi to be reused. Coins can be dismantled and tossed in a wishing well as a way of repurposing them or keep them for Christmas tree ornaments.

The New Moon on January 28th ushers in the New Year. On this day it is said you should hang red lanterns in your home, set off fireworks to ward off evil spirits, wear new clothes, and give children lai see or money in red envelopes. Feast on dumplings and oranges, and gather with friends. Do no work on this day or you risk a year of hard labor. What you do on this day sets the tone for the rest of the year.

Characteristics of a Fire Rooster:

This is what I had to say about The Monkey of 2016: Monkey is very active, funny, motivated by challenges. They get bored easily, detest routine, and love to have fun. They are very sexual, sociable, clever, inventive, and love to solve puzzles. Monkeys can also be restless, immature, mischievous, unpredictable, and manipulative. I have no doubt that some serious shenanigans will be seen in this Presidential election. I will say this – Expect the unexpected. Not only will there be more mischievousness but also problems solved, good humor, mirth and folly.

And as I write this, I wonder if there won’t be a last minute contesting of the election results. Is this really our reality for the next 4 years? Well, onward we go.

Welcome in the Red Rooster and Rooster people (born on the year and/or day of the Rooster) tend to be fearless, proud, they say it the way it is without holding back, and they have impeccable taste in fashion.  They love to socialize, entertain, and be in the spotlight. They are sensitive to criticism. Roosters are smart, perceptive and thirst for knowledge.

So a Rooster is someone who is alert, direct, entertaining, expressive, smart, meticulous, resourceful, and resilient. But these barnyard friends can also be vulnerable, critical, proud, argumentative, impulsive, selfish, and pretentious.

The Rooster represents Yin Metal, the time of 5 – 7 PM, the month of September, and the direction of the West in the Season of Autumn.

Babies born in 2017 will have these characteristics.

Those born during the time of the Rooster are opinionated, moral, and very alert.

Breaking Down this Cocky Business:

In 2017 we have the opposite of what we had last year, all Yang, we are now all Yin – Yin Fire sitting atop Yin Metal like soldering jewelry there is the creative and also destructive power of this year. Yin Fire is a like a little candle flame, not like 2016’s Yang Fire with big emotion and big power, this is fragile, tense and nervous. The Yin Fire with Yin Metal is like small explosions. We can expect more incidents involving guns this year, war, and terrorist attacks.

60 years ago we had our last Yin Fire Rooster Year 1957 and you can go back further to 120 years ago, 1897. We can learn so much about our own fortune for this year by seeing what happened in previous Red Rooster years like 1957 the Vietnam War was escalating, or 1897 when Russia and other western countries invaded China which was under the weakening Qing Dynasty.
The Rooster is also the Peach Blossom of romance and beauty so the fashion, entertainment, and cosmetics industries will fare very well this year. The downside to a Peach Blossom year are sex/ relationship scandals.

Yin Fire Rooster is considered a Nobleman and Academic Star so in these years we see great scientific developments. In 1957 the first satellite, Sputnik 1, was launched by the Soviet Union. Laser was invented by Gordon Gould. 1897 brought the invention of aspirin and the electron.

We also saw explosions and fires like in 1957 a coal mine exploded in Virginia killing over 35 people, an elderly home in Missouri caught fire killing 72 people, and in Albuquerque a 42,000 pound hydrogen bomb accidently fell from a bomber. There were two nuclear accidents, one in England and one in Russia.

The unstable Fire relates to things that fly so expect more airplane accidents, and other flying objects like drones to meet with disaster. Rooster’s Yin Metal relates to machinery and transportation like trains, car crashes and machinery failures.

This is a GREAT year for having a baby since they will be born with the Nobleman and Academic Star giving them a smooth life with support and mental acumen. These are children who will be eager to learn and understand the world around them.

Health and Personality:

Yin Fire represents blood and circulation in the human body, also the brain, nervous system and the eyes. An increase in illnesses to blood, brain, nerves, and eyes is greater in 2017 along with strokes and high blood pressure.

The Rooster as Yin Metal represents the lungs and skin so asthma, flu, and skin issues are greater now. Yin Metal attacks Yin Wood (Rabbit) which means a greater chance of breaking small bones.

Yin Fire people are warm hearted, kind, happy, and also edgy and tense.

World Events – Economy – Business:

Yin Fire will bring optimism in the first half of the year and the stock market will be strong and relatively stable but after summer we will see the market fall and lose stability. This bearish market will continue from August 2017 – 2022 so caution in investments should be observed.

Industries that will fare well in 2017 are entertainment, fashion, cosmetics, restaurant, cooking, energy healing, yoga, fitness, and sports. Also, communication, shipping, transport, construction, mining, and high tech industries. The areas that will suffer this year are banking, engineering, computers, car industry, and also facing stiff competition is the environment, paper, and textiles.

The stock market does best when Fire is present. 2008 Great Recession was a result of a big Water Rat influence but by 2014, Fiery Horse Year, we saw the economy stabilize. In January 2015 (Western calendar 2016), we had the Sheep clash with the Ox of January and that is when we lost our Fire for that month along with a slew of famous people dying and we experienced a lot of cold snowy weather. The Fire Monkey saw a slight downturn. But the illusory optimism going into 2017 along with the support of the Wood and Fire Months will support a good economy until the fall.

Astrological Conflict with the Rooster

The worst clash is with the Rabbit as Metal cuts down Wood. If Rabbit sits in your Day you can expect a direct hit on you and your romantic relationships. Also Rabbits are more likely to have surgery, injuries to back and neck, and injuries with knives along with car accidents. It is auspicious for Rabbits to travel, move, and change jobs but they should keep a Dragon talisman with them at all times for protection. Do not travel West. More than that poor Rabbits will experience turbulence, upset, accidents, and unfavorable changes.

There is a Harm with the Rooster and the Dog as they work against each other.

Tiger is also negatively affected by the Rooster; and it is advised Tigers also do not travel West and they keep a Dragon with them for protection.

And it is never favorable to have the annual animal be one of your own as far as you Day or Year, this direct insult of Rooster to Rooster is not fortunate at all. It is not only a self-penalty but also an affront to the Grand Duke. The misfortune could be arguments, worry, upset, frustration and sickness. It is advised that Roosters also keep a Dragon talisman with them for safety.

So what Rabbits might be in for a rough ride this year? Brad Pitt, David Beckham, Angelina Jolie, Novak Djokovic, Maria Sherapova, Prince Charles, Harrison Ford, Nicole Kidman, Stephen King, and Rachel Ray.

Those born in the year or on the day of the Rooster who will experience a direct clash with the year ahead are Cate Blanchett, Kate Middleton, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Eric Clapton, Jodie Foster, Mick Jagger, Matt Damon, and Roger Federer.

Astrological Harmony with the Monkey

The Rooster brings Peach Blossom of Romance to Monkeys, Rats and Dragons suggesting a year for being more social, sexual, and a greater chance for finding a romantic relationship.

Rabbits and Pigs will enjoy more travel.

The animals who will have the best outlook for 2017 are the Dragon, Snake and Ox.

The Rooster is the Nobleman for people born in years ending with 6 or 7 such as 1956, 1957, 1966, 1967, 1976, 1977 etc. The Nobleman is a protective angel who comes to your aid and smooths everything out when life gets too messy.

The Chinese Astrology of the United States for 2015

In 2017 our country will move through a Cycle shift and in fact, we may begin to feel the energy change as we move from one 10 year period into another especially with results of this Presidential election.  In this last year ruled by a Yang Earth Horse decade we have had the ability to amass income and reap rewards for our work and efforts. Yet, as good as that forecast appears, each year’s annual energy can trip that up and turn a positive into a negative. The support is there if we look in unfamiliar places. Who are our allies?

2015 I forecasted to bring a harsh, combative, uncompromising stance where bullies take charge, and confrontation and combat incite battle, especially more military action in the Middle East resulting in an increased threat to our safety and wellbeing as a result of our actions. Yet, despite all the turmoil, there is a stronger sense of who we are as Americans and how that bond could create an incredible opportunity for collaborating with others, of forging bonds with likeminded people, of teaching and inspiring our youth and our citizens to hold true to themselves; independent, self-confident, decisive, and connected to our allies. The enemy was at the gate – it may have surprised us who that enemy was (local police brutality comes to mind).

2016 Yang Fire Monkey mirrors our own Year Pillar and this means trouble. I think the first half of the year will be less favorable. Certainly the energy in November proved to be an interesting turn of events with the election. This is a social year with people gathering, networking, and social media will play a bigger role in how we connect, communicate, and rally. Education, Religion, and how we educate and inspire will be another aspect of this year for Americans. How do we see ourselves as a collective community – are we in this together or are we divided? Are we working for the betterment of all or for the betterment of some? Read more on the forecast of America in my Blog –
